The Resort Municipality of Osoyoos, BC located in the beautiful south Okanagan Valley is accepting applications for the position of Water/Wastewater Operator II

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Utilities Supervisor, the Water/Wastewater Operator II participates in the operation and maintenance of the Town’s water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure. The primary focus will be wastewater, but the successful candidate will be required to participate in other areas of operation and maintenance as required. This position has supervisory aspects and works alongside the other water and wastewater operators.

Qualifications:

Required:
• High school diploma; and
• EOCP Level 2 Water Distribution, EOCP Level 2 Water Treatment plus EOCP Level 1 Wastewater Treatment or Level 1 Wastewater Collections OR EOCP Level 2 Wastewater Collections, EOCP Level 2 Wastewater Treatment plus EOCP Level 1 Water Treatment or Level 1 Water Distribution; and
• BCWWA Chlorine Handler Certificate or equivalent; and
• Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's Licence with air brakes endorsement (Class 3 licence would be an asset).

Preferred:
• WHMIS and Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) training.
• Training in confined space entry, excavations, fall protection, and underground utility locating.
• CCTV inspection, wastewater sampling, hydrovac, and sewer jetting training.
• Crane truck operator certification.
• Waterborne illness prevention training.

Days of Work: This position is part of the after-hours emergency standby rotation, responds to callouts, alarms, emergency situations and is required to be available on a rotational basis for weekend on-call as required. Must be able to respond within a maximum of 30 minutes to a call out.

Hours per Week: Full-time 40/week – Unionized position

Hourly Rate: $43.90/hour plus a generous benefits package
