Private Moorage Facilities
The construction, placement and use of private moorage facilities on Crown land require authorization from the B.C. government. Private moorage facilities include docks, boat ways/ramps or boat lifts that are used for private residential use.
To determine what Provincial authorizations would be required to modify an existing dock or construct a new dock, it is recommended that property owners first contact FrontCounter BC.
The Town of Osoyoos Zoning Bylaw No. 1395, 2024 also applies to private moorage facilities, and additional authorizations may be required for the alteration of an existing dock or construction of a new dock. Docks, group moorage facilities, and boat launches/lifts are generally located within the Osoyoos Lake (W1) Zone and marinas within the Marina Commercial (CT3) Zone.
If you have any questions with respect to zoning or required Town authorizations for the alteration or construction of private moorage facilities, please contact the Planning and Development Services Department at plan@osoyoos.ca.
