The BC Government's Local Government Climate Action Program (LGCAP), launched in 2022, aims to provide predictable, long-term funding for local governments and Modern Treaty Nations to plan and implement climate action that will reduce emissions, create new opportunities for people in the clean economy and prepare communities for future climate impacts. As part of the program, recipients of funding will be required to report on their actions.

Climate Action Revenue Incentive Program (CARIP)
The Climate Action Revenue Incentive Program (CARIP) was replaced with LGCAP and was a conditional grant program that provided funding to Climate Action Charter signatories, covering one hundred percent of the carbon taxes that they paid directly. This funding supported local governments in their efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and move forward on achieving their climate action goals. The program reporting requirements were suspended during COVID-19 pandemic restrictions
