As part of the 89th Street Reconstruction Capital Project, a watermain tie-in will be completed in the area of Loon Crescent and 72nd Avenue on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.

Properties affected by the shutdown received a notice last week. Residents who received a notice are encouraged to store any water they may need before the shutdown begins.

Every effort will be made to complete the work and restore water service as quickly as possible.

Please note residents in the area may experience temporary discoloured or dirty water.

The discolouration is caused by rapid changes in water flow direction within the water distribution system during the tie-in process. We recognize that discoloured water can be inconvenient and frustrating for residents, and we sincerely appreciate your patience as this infrastructure work is completed. To help minimize impacts, municipal crews will be actively monitoring the system.

If you are concerned about discoloured water, you may wish to run a cold-water tap for approximately 10 minutes, or until the water runs clear. Residents are also encouraged to avoid doing laundry while water is noticeably discoloured.
