January 30, 2025: Watermain work on 74th Avenue between 89th Street and Heron Lane
Pre-construction activity will commence in the area of 74th Avenue between 89th Street and Heron Lane the week of January 27th, 2025 for watermain upgrade work. Asphalt milling will take place in upcoming weeks. During excavation and watermain work, temporary road closures will be necessary with local detours in place. The project is currently scheduled for completion in June, 2025.
Residents in the area will receive an information notice delivered to their door from the contractor.
March 3, 2025: H&M Construction is knocking on doors to notify residents in the Loon Crescent area of a temporary water shut off today. It is necessary to place a thrust block (water pipe restraint) on the end of the existing line so the contractor can work safely around the existing watermain.
March 7, 2025: H&M Construction expects to be working on Heron Lane by approximately Wednesday, March 12, 2025.
March 12, 2025: Traffic disruptions expected on 74th Avenue for the full day. Detours in Place.
March 26, 2025: The watermain upgrade work on 74th Avenue is progressing well, and crews are ready to tie-in the new lines from Loon Crescent and Heron Lane.
Starting the week of March 31, 2025 for a period of approximately 3 weeks, 74th Avenue between 89th Street and Heron Lane will be completely closed during the day to vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
April 7, 2025: 74th Avenue Road closures will now start the week of April 7, 2025 for a period of approximately 3 weeks. 74th Avenue between 89th Street and Heron Lane will be completely closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Following this initial closure, there will be intermittent day closures.
April 28, 2025: 74th Ave road closures will continue for another 4 weeks. 74th Ave between 89th St. and Finch Crescent will be completely closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Following this closure, there will be intermittent day closures.
