The Town of Osoyoos is seeking Election Officials to assist with conducting the 2026 general local election for the positions of Mayor, Councillors and Water Councillors.

Election Officials will need to work from approximately 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the advance polls on October 7, 2026 and October 10, 2026 and on general voting day on Saturday, October 17, 2026. Some Election Officials may be asked to stay later on October 17, 2026 to assist with ballot count.

 All voting opportunities will be held in the gymnasium at the Sonora Community Centre, 8505 69th Avenue, Osoyoos, B. C. 

The Town of Osoyoos will hold a paid mandatory training session on Friday, October 2, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Sonora Community Centre gymnasium.  Election Officials who do not attend the training session will not be permitted to work at the poll.  Reference material and all necessary supplies will be provided and support from the Chief Election Officer and Deputy Chief Election Officer will be available during voting days.

Note that Election Officials must be able to work a 12.5+ hour day with minimal breaks both on general voting day and advance voting days.  Food and beverages will be provided, and roles within the poll will be rotated to break up the day.  Election Officials will be paid a flat rate of $25.00/hour. 

Desired attributes of Election Officials are accuracy in handling information, astuteness in monitoring compliance in the poll, good communication skills, and legible penmanship.  Assets would be knowledge of Town of Osoyoos addresses and fluency in a language other than English.

Election Officials will be required to sign a solemn declaration of impartiality and have no personal connection to any candidate (such as a nominator, agent, relative, promoter) on a ballot at the Sonora Community Centre poll, including candidates on the School District #53 Trustee ballot and the RDOS ballot, as the polls will be co-located.
