2026 GENERAL LOCAL ELECTION

NOTICE OF NOMINATIONS

PUBLIC NOTICE is given to the electors of the Town of Osoyoos that nominations will be received for the offices of:

Mayor – One (1) to be elected

Councillor – Four (4) to be elected

For a 4 (four) year term November 2026 – November 2030

AND FURTHER PUBLIC NOTICE is given to the electors of Regional District of Okanagan- Similkameen Area A within the areas served by the Osoyoos waterworks systems (known as System 8 and 9) that nominations are required for the offices of:

Water Councillor – Two (2) to be elected

For a 4 (four) year term November 2026 – November 2030

Nominations may be filed with the Chief Election Officer or their delegate, as follows:

Nomination documents are available at the Town of Osoyoos, Town Office, 8707 Main Street, Osoyoos, BC, V0H 1V0, between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM Monday through Friday excluding Statutory Holidays, or an electronic version is available at www.osoyoos.ca/council/elections.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR OFFICE

A person is qualified to be nominated, elected, and to hold office as a member of local government if they meet the following criteria:

  • 18 years of age or older;

  • Canadian citizen;

  • resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before the day nomination papers are filed;

  • not disqualified by the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election in British Columbia or from being nominated for, being elected to, or holding office.

FURTHER for Water Councillor, a person to be nominated must be a resident in the Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen Area A, serviced by the Osoyoos waterworks systems known as System 8 or 9.

CANDIDATE EXPENSE LIMITS

In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, for the 2026 general local election, the following expense limits for candidates apply:

Mayor $12,323.78
Councillor $6,161.89
Water Councillor $6,191.89

THIRD PARTY DIRECTED ADVERTISING EXPENSE LIMITS

In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, for the 2026 general local elections, the following third party directed advertising expense limits apply:

Mayor $924.28
Councillor $924.28
Water Councillor $924.28
