Volunteers Needed for Affordable Housing Authority Deadline November 14

The Town of Osoyoos is seeking 5 citizen representatives to serve on an Affordable Housing Authority (AHA) to assist implementing its Near-Market Affordable Housing (NMAH) Program by:

  1. Assess applicants for registering on an affordable housing waiting list against program eligibility priorities;
  2. Consider each applicant’s supporting background information forwarded by the Town, as well as additional information requested by the AHA itself, and the results of any personal interviews; and
  3. Approve or deny applicants’ registration on the waiting list and recommend on suitable housing types to meet their needs.

For further information, please click on the links below:

In confirming citizen representatives, Council will give preference to persons who, to the maximum extent possible, can contribute expertise and experience in such areas as mortgage financing, property management, client interviewing and evaluation, and program eligibility administration. It is emphasized that the Town’s housing support is not a social housing program but is intended to subsidize households needing support to enter the conventional housing market.  The first program application will be four homes to be built over the next year within the Town-owned Richter property south of the new fire hall.

Members of the public should please submit letters of interest to the undersigned explaining how they could contribute as a citizen representative on the Town’s Affordable Housing Authority (AHA).

Deadline for submission is MONDAY, November 14, 2016.
