Traffic Safety Committee
Council Resolution
2012 03 19 MOTION 427/12 Moved by Councillor Ryan and seconded by Councillor Rhodes and resolved that Council approves the terms of reference for the Traffic Safety MOTION 427/12 Moved by Councillor Ryan and seconded by Councillor Rhodes and resolved that Council approves the terms of reference for the Traffic Safety Committee as presented.
Legislative Authority
This committee is considered a non-standing committee of Osoyoos Town Council that has been developed for a short term project completion.
Purpose of the Committee
To identify opportunities to improve pedestrian and traffic safety within town boundaries, including highway and neighbourhood corridors. The committee will also review traffic connectivity standards on roadways that interface with the regional district. The committee will make recommendations to council that may enable project achievement through municipal budgeting processes and will also explore opportunities to partner with the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, ICBC and others where program funding may be available to support project initiatives.
Membership
Membership includes: Representative(s) from Ministry of Transportation, RCMP, Town Council and Town Administration. The committee can also call on members of the public and the RDOS to provide consultation as part of their working processes.
Meeting Dates
The committee will endeavour to meet monthly at 9 AM on a Wednesday or Thursday.
Minutes
Minutes will be kept and circulated to committee members and made available to council and the public through council meeting agenda packages.
Chairmanship
The committee will be chaired by the Town administration.
