PUBLIC NOTICE - The Remediation of Well No. 6 until June 10, 2016

In April of this year the Operational Services Department noticed a dramatic decline in the amount of water produced by Well No. 6 (change from 700 US gpm to 250 US gpm).  This dramatic reduction in water production from Well No. 6 is the result of mineral encrustation on the well intake screens. 

At the May 16, 2016 Town Council meeting Council approved a reallocation of capital budget funding to allow the Operational Services Department to hire Diamond P. Holdings Ltd to inspect, clean and remediate Well No. 6.  As part of this process Diamond Holdings will be pumping a cleaning solution into and out of the well.  This cleaning solution is environmentally friendly, will not harm the lake but does have a strong odor (rotten egg smell) which nearby residents may notice during this cleaning process. 

The cleaning process is scheduled to be completed by June 10, 2016.  The remediation of Well No. 6 is critical to maintaining adequate water reserves for the Town of Osoyoos this summer season and the Town apologizes for any inconvenience to citizens adversely affected by this well remediation work.
