PUBIC NOTICE - Further information regarding November 9, 2021 Boil Water Notice

November 10, 2021 UPDATE:

The Town of Osoyoos understands that residents are concerned and have questions in regards to the Boil Water Notice that was put in place on November 9th, 2021. The Boil Water Notice has been put in place as a precautionary measure to protect the water system users from the possibility of a water main contamination. This possible water main contamination was a result of work being performed during the water main twinning project on 32nd Avenue.

Operational Services staff are currently in the area completing water main flushing as well as confirming chlorine residuals and water quality. The Boil Water Notice will remain in place until bacteriological sampling has shown that the water is once again safe to consume. Until then, we ask that all residents in the affected area, boil their water prior to use for a minimum of one minute or to find another potable water source. If you are unsure if you are in the affected area, or have concerns about the quality of your drinking water, we ask that you contact Operational Services Department.

We continue to work with the Interior Health Authority on making sure the water system, in the affected area, is returned to a potable state.

The Town of Osoyoos apologizes for the inconvenience that this has caused. However, we would like to note that it is the Town’s responsibility to provide the community with potable drinking water as well as make our residents aware when water quality concerns arise; this ensures water system users can take the appropriate steps to protect themselves.

The Town will provide further updates as they arise.
