REGULAR OPEN MEETING

Staff Reports

  • Council authorized borrowing up to a maximum of $45,000.00 from the Municipal Finance Authority for the purpose of purchasing a new light truck for the Utilities Superintendent. The loan is to be repaid within five years with no rights of renewal.
  • Council authorized the notice of intention to lease the Sun Bowl Arena for the purpose of operating the Osoyoos Coyotes Junior “B” hockey team for a one year term at a rate of $500.00 per game and an additional fee of $250.00 per month for the operation of the concession.

Councillor and Mayor Reports

  • Councillors Bennett and Rhodes encouraged everyone to fill out the public survey on the South Okanagan Regional Aquatic Centre.
  • Councillor Bennett attended the Destination Osoyoos board meeting.
  • Councillor Bennett attended the MIABC board meeting.
  • Councillor King attended the Community Services Advisory Committee meeting.
  • Mayor McKortoff attended the UBCM conference virtually.
  • Mayor McKortoff provided a tour to Marta Cowling, Consul General of Portugal, around the community to showcase the Portuguese heritage in Osoyoos.
  • Mayor McKortoff attended the School District #53 meeting.
  • Mayor McKortoff noted that Town Hall will be closed on September 30th in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
  • Mayor McKortoff attended the Osoyoos Festival Society AGM. There will be Christmas Light Up during the first weekend in December, however there will be no parade due to COVID.
