Council Meeting Highlights for May 5, 2014

  • RCMP Update and Policing - presented by Sgt. Kevin Schur


  • Museum Parcel Tax Amendment Bylaw 1300.01, 2014 adopted.
  • 2014 Osoyoos Tax Rates Bylaw 1305, 2014 adopted.
  • East Lakeshore Drive Sewer Parcel Tax Bylaw 1182, 2014 and East Lakeshore Drive Water Parcel Tax Bylaw 1183, 2014 adopted.


  • Report 2 – Gyro Park Plaza – Phase 1 and Parking Lot - Staff to contact the landscape architect to review the project specifications; review the re-tendering process; re-address phasing of projects.
  • Council approves the Desert Centre Landscaping Project for improvements around the wind chimes.
  • 2013 Audit Report - Council approved signing the audit report from White Kennedy dated May 19, 2014, acknowledging that they have read and reviewed the contents of the report.
  • 2013 Audited Financial StatementsTown of Osoyoos and Sun Bowl Arena Council approved the audited Financial Statements as presented.
  • Fire Protection Agreement– Osoyoos Rural Fire Protection District Council authorized the signing of the fire protection agreement between the Town of Osoyoos and Osoyoos Rural Fire Protection District as presented.
  • 2014 Annual General Meeting Date for the Town of Osoyoos be held on Monday, June 16, 2014 at 1:00 PM in the Council Chambers
  • 2014 General Local Elections – Appointment of Chief Election Officer deferred to next meeting.
  • 2014 – 2015 Victim Services Program Funding Agreement - the Mayor and Corporate Officer be authorized to sign the Agreement for Osoyoos for a one year term.
  • RBC Learn to Play Project Grant Application Council supports the Community Services grant application.
  • OsoyoosRoad 22 Visitor Kiosk Council approved providing a contribution to a maximum of $1,000 to the Osoyoos Road 22 Kiosk Improvements project.
  • Affordable Housing Society/Authority- Councillorapproved Affordable Housing Society/Authority, with the Director of Planning and Development Services available as a resource person and Councillor McKortoff appointed as the alternative Council representative.
  • Cactus Jalopies funding request approved for $4,200 to assist with the cost of advertising and entertainment for this year only.

The public is encouraged to attend the Committee of the Whole meetings which take place in Council Chambers at 9:00AM on the morning of the Regular Open Council meetings at 2:00 PM to learn additional in-depth information regarding upcoming business.
