REGULAR OPEN MEETING
Business
- Development Variance Permit Application (DVP17-07) for 9915 74th Ave - Council denied the variance permit application but requested that staff consult with the applicant to come up with a solution to reduce the impact of the proposed detached garage/shop and the variances that are required.
- Urban Forestry Plan and Tree Management Bylaw – Council requested more information from staff about CTQ’s proposal and asked that it be brought back to the next Regular Council Meeting for discussion.
- Request to provide sewer services to 8407 Lakehead Campsite Rd - Council allowed 8407 Lakehead Campsite Road to connect to the Northwest Sanitary Sewer Service for a fee of $23,790 plus actual costs to install the connection to the Town of Osoyoos Sanitary Sewer Collection System.
- Curbside Garbage, Recycling, Compostable Materials, and Large Items Collection Contract – Council awarded the contract for Curbside Garbage, Recycling, Compostable Materials and Large Item Collection to Waste Collections of Canada for “Manual Collection” in the amount of $239,993.04.
- Request to connect to Town Sewer System – Council allowed 10235 87th Street to connect to the Town Sanitary Sewer System and pay the prescribed fee of $23,790 for the cost of the sewer service plus $110.00 sewer inspection fee.
- Councillor Rhodes was appointed as Acting Mayor for the month of July, 2017.
Reports
- Councillor Rhodes encouraged everyone to be socially responsible when putting out their cigarettes.
- Councillor King attended the Music in the Park and thanked the committee who organized the event.
- Councillor King attended the Street Dance and it was great to see all the families who attended.
- Mayor McKortoff gave kudos to Talon Lowton who has provided water bottles to various businesses in Town to encourage people to put out their cigarettes responsibly.
- Mayor McKortoff encouraged everyone to make donations to the Red Cross to help those who are affected by the Forest Fires.
- Mayor McKortoff thanked the Town staff for keeping the community safe and clean.

The public is encouraged to attend the Committee of the Whole meetings which take place in Council Chambers at 9:00AM on the morning of the Regular Open Council meetings at 2:00 PM to learn additional in-depth information regarding upcoming business.
