Council Meeting Highlights for July 15, 2019

  • Joel Short, Daylin Mantyka, and Brittany Tuttle of Urban Systems presented the Communications and Engagement Plan for the Official Community Plan Review. Council selected the Choose Osoyoos option as the branding logo for the Review.


Water Matters

  • Osoyoos Rural Water District Service Authorization Bylaw No. 1353, 2019 was read for a first and second time. If adopted this bylaw would establish a service area for the Osoyoos Rural Water District and allow the Town to set user fees for water service through bylaw and bill the individual properties and residential units that receive water through this area. The bylaw will be considered by the RDOS board for consent.


  • Councillor Bennett attended the Municipal Insurance Association meeting in Whistler.
  • Councillor King thanked Music in the Park Committee and encouraged everyone to attend the weekly performances during the summer.
  • Mayor McKortoff and Councillors Rhodes and King thanked CAO Romanko for all of his hard work and wished him the best in his retirement.
  • Mayor McKortoff attended the Desert Centre new building grand opening.
  • Mayor McKortoff congratulated Bob Sherwood for winning a gold medal in the Kelowna Apple Triathlon in Kelowna.
  • Mayor McKortoff attended the Primary Care Network meeting.
  • Mayor McKortoff encouraged everyone to reduce and reuse single plastics and cut down on use of plastics.



  • A Public Hearing was held in the Council Chambers on July 15, 2019 at 4:15 pm for Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 1085.121, 2019. If adopted this bylaw amendment would allow for a site specific cannabis production facility at 11609 115th Street.

The public is encouraged to attend the Committee of the Whole meetings which take place in Council Chambers at 9:00 am on the morning of the Regular Open Council meetings at 2:00 pm to learn additional in-depth information regarding upcoming business.
