BUSINESS
- South Okanagan Energy Diet – A presentation was provided by Community Energy BC on pilot program through Fortis BC to reduce residential energy consumption. The Town will allocate $1,000 or $10.00 per home to reduce the cost of the initial home energy assessment.
- Multi-Material BC Printed Paper Stewardship Program – RDOS provided a presentation on Provincial program for collection and processing of packaging and printed paper as a new product category under recycling regulation
- Mobile Vendor Policy Options – Council discussed proposed vendor selection criteria for mobile food vendors
BYLAWS
- Proposed zoning amendments for home occupations – Council discussed proposed amendments to the zoning bylaw to address office-style home occupations (home-based businesses), particularly with respect to strata complexes
- “Form Based” Zoning Approach for SE Meadowlark Area Plan – Second and third readings were given to Official Community Plan and Zoning Bylaw amendments with respect to implementing the SE Meadowlark Area Plan.
REPORTS/ANNOUNCEMENTS
- Development Variance Permits – Council approved a variance to the Town’s Zoning Bylaw to reduce off-street parking requirements for a proposed restaurant to be located at 8312 74th Avenue. Council also approved a variance to the Osoyoos Golf Club sign, which limits the size and copy area of the sign.
- Bylaw Enforcement/Parks Hours – Staff provided Council with an update on bylaw enforcement hours for the summer season. Council requested a further report comparing statistics with last year, as well as a report on the total number of municipal tickets issued.
- Landfill Cover Tender – Council approved awarding the Stage 1 Landfill Final Cover contract to Superior Excavating in the amount of $52,920.00.
- Council congratulated Lauren Sherwood on being chosen as one of three BC Ambassadors for the coming year.
- A community ‘Ener-vention’ sponsored by FortisBC and Community Energy BC will be held on September 30 at the Holiday Inn (6 to 8 pm)
- Mayor Wells and Councillor Plante will be attending the Union of BC Municipalities annual convention in Vancouver September 16 through 20
- During the week of September 23 to 29, Tim Horton’s restaurant will donate proceeds from the sale of “Smile” cookies to the Osoyoos Splash Park fundraising.

The public is encouraged to attend the Committee of the Whole meetings which take place in Council Chambers at 9:00 AM on the morning of the Regular Open Council meetings at 2:00 PM to learn additional in-depth information regarding upcoming business.
