Council Meeting Highlights for April 20, 2015

Regular Open

BYLAWS
•    2015 Osoyoos Tax Rates Bylaw 1312, 2015 – received its first 3 readings
•    Museum Parcel Tax Amendment Bylaw 1300.02, 2015 – received its first 3 readings

BUSINESS 
•    Community Services Grant Applications -A total of $47,000 in grants were awarded for 2015.  In addition, Council approved Resort Municipality Initiative (RMI) funding for the Cactus Car Jalopies ($5,000) and Three Amigos Music in the Park ($3,925).
•    2014 Audited Financial Statements – Council approved the 2014 Town of Osoyoos and Sun Bowl Arena audited Financial Statements as presented. 
•    Council approved providing a letter of support to the South Okanagan Chamber of Commerce to host the Harvesting the Diversity multicultural event in Osoyoos in November, 2015.

DELEGATION 
•    Presentation from the BC Ambassadors Candidates Chelsea Cameron-Horner and Viveka Jensen. Pageant will be held on August 14.

REPORTS/ANNOUNCEMENTS
•    Thank you to FORTIS for their generous contribution to the set up of the Osprey-cam. Very interesting to observe the nesting ospreys. Click here to view.
•    Firemen’s hot dog sale and head shaving events held during Easter Eggstravaganza raised $2,500 for Cancer Society. 
•    Accepted a cheque on behalf of the Town for $2,450 from Rotary for its support for public skating at Sun Bowl Arena (Mayor McKortoff).
•    Rogers Cell Tower – met with project coordinator, toured possible sites.  A presentation will be made to Council (Mayor McKortoff).

The public is encouraged to attend the Committee of the Whole meetings which take place in Council Chambers at 9:00AM on the morning of the Regular Open Council meetings at 2:00 PM to learn additional in-depth information regarding upcoming business.
