Air Your Views on the Penticton Airport’s Flight Service

March 12, 2019
NEWS RELEASE

Travellers for work, business or pleasure can share their views on the flight service available at the Penticton Airport in a survey now on the www.shapeyourcitypenticton.ca website. The City and the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen want to better understand the flight needs in the area in light of recent changes to the Vancouver service provided by Air Canada Express.

“The availability of the flight service in Penticton is an important contributor to our regional economy,” says Anthony Haddad, Director of Development Services for the City of Penticton. “Many people choose to live or locate their business in Penticton and the Okanagan-Similkameen because of the ease of travel to Vancouver and Calgary. Through the survey, we would like to get a better understanding of the effects of the changes to the Vancouver schedule as well as identify any gaps in the flight service.”

Air Canada Express announced that beginning May 1, they will use the larger Q400 aircraft to serve their Penticton to Vancouver routes and will be removing the 11 pm arrival and 6 am departure flights. The changes will improve the reliability of the flight service through the winter season but may impact schedules for commuters and business travel.

The Penticton Airport Flight Service Survey will run until April 6, 2019. “The information collected in the survey will be shared with Air Canada Express and potentially other air service operators who might be interested in filling any gaps,” says Haddad. “We encourage anyone who travels through the Penticton airport to complete the survey and hope to hear from as many people as possible.”
