The Resort Municipality of Osoyoos, BC, located in the beautiful south Okanagan Valley, is accepting applications for the position of Building Inspector.
The Planning and Development Services Department is looking for an experienced and customer service-focused individual to join the planning and development team on a part-time or full-time basis. As a team member, you will review building and construction plans, issue building permits, and perform on-site building inspections.
Under the supervision and direction of the Director of Planning, you will ensure that design and materials used during the construction, renovation, and alteration of buildings within the Community are compliant with the provisions set out in the BC Building Code, specifically Part 9, BC Plumbing Code, Osoyoos’ Zoning Bylaw, other municipal bylaws, policies, and procedures.
You will have completed grade 12 and possess a Diploma in Building Technology from a recognized technical institute, or you will have experience at the journeyman level in one of the building trades. You will also have BOABC Level Three (3) Certification OR you will have passed the BOABC Level Three (3) examination with certification pending upon completion of the (4) years’ work experience requirement. A valid Class 5 BC driver’s license, a clean driving record, and Police Information Check are required.
The Town is currently experiencing unprecedented growth. The building inspector position allows you to further your skills and experience in plan checking and inspections for multi-family dwellings, commercial buildings, and mixed-use developments.
This position can be either part-time or full-time 35 hours a week for the right candidate. The hourly rate is $40.84-48.76 per hour, plus an attractive benefits package (full-time employment).
